It depends on the games you want to play and the money you have use. Remember some games only come on one console (exclusive), so for-example halo will probably never come on ps3 so then you have to buy the xbox 360.
According to wikipedia as of June 2010 there have been sold a total of 38.1 million ps3, while xbox 360 sold 41.7 now remember this is give or take. But the more a system sell the more people will stay on it, its like in the army the more soldiers you have the better are the chances of winning. But some people have both of them.
These consoles have one thing in common and that they are there to entertain you. But then comes the games bc if you want to play one title that cant be played on the ps3, you could insert it into the unit but when its not programmed to read that then you will not get far.
A gaming pc can cost all the way up to 2000 $ while a ps3 is at 300 $, plus its optimized for gaming. But a pc can do backwards compatibility the newer ps3 cant. Remember that just bc a system sell very much doesn’t mean the war is over, as you know war never ends.
Which is better is up to you its like no person saying a pizza with to much cheese is good, while maybe somebody else doesn’t like adding cheese to it at all. So its personal choose and if you cant make up your mind, then I suggest you getting both that way you don’t need to think that hard.
